Tuesday must be blog days. That's ok, Tuesdays don't get a lot of attention. It's not Monday, but it's close enough we don't want to deal with it because you have to deal with all the leftover Monday stuff on it. So, it's probably a good day for blogging. Musings today are, homeschool or not to homeschool.

I miss the days when parents and teachers were a team, we worked together to find solutions to help the kids. Nowadays it seems like teachers want to teach and want nothing to do with the parents. I have the hardest time getting answers or anything out of my child's teachers and all I want is to help my kid excel at school. If I send you an email, it doesn't mean I'm angry or against you...I just want to work with you and help you with my child because I have one kid and you got 25-30 in your classroom.

There's also a lot of fighting and political crap going on too. I mean, common core introduced enough drama into the public school system, plus the school lunch program that was a big fail because schools couldn't afford the menu. I do think we need healthier choices but they also need to be affordable choices.

So, we may be homeschooling out high school freshman and said child is very excited about this. I have been on the fence, but I'm a gold personality in the four lenses world. That means I like order and I dislike change. I can accept change and be on board with it but it takes me some time to warm up to new ideas. I also don't like surprises...usually. Sometimes surprises are good. Like my husband likes to surprise me with little things or purchases and those are always exciting!

With that said, I'm taking time to warm up to the homeschool idea and I've seen a lot of pros and only 1 con. She's in marching band and really loves it. It's only for the first 2 months of school though so it's not a huge con. The pros are, we set our schedule and can travel when we want. We don't have to worry about anything but ourselves. She can do school at her own pace and graduate early if she works hard. I also get to decide what books she reads and everything else. I remember having to read Native Son, Catcher in the Rye, Animal Farm, 1984, and Brave New World. All books no child should be reading. These are considered classics and I'm sorry, but they're garbage. I mean seriously...if you want seriously disturbing, read Brave New World and what little 5 and 6 year olds are doing together. That's the only part of that book I remember and I could have gone my whole life without reading that.

Anyway, enough musings for now.
